Red lacquered antique Victorian papier mâché shell shaped tray/dish was originally used to collect the crumbs of Victorian high-society that were brushed off the dinner table in-between courses. Decorated all over with tiny stars, these highly collectable shells are very sought after by the interior design set and difficult to find.
Founder of Petit Objet, Florence Wolsey, has one mounted above the interior doorway of her Devon cottage sitting room and is one of her most treasured antiques.
